The Mission of NPO Musketeers
The mission of NPO Musketeers is: Build communities, local economies, and self-sufficiency nationwide, by supporting other non-profits, startup businesses and the under-employed.
UNIQUE SOLUTIONS TO COMMON PROBLEMS
The mission of NPO Musketeers is: Build communities, local economies and self-sufficiency by supporting other non-profits, startups, and the under-employed. The activities and programs of NPO Musketeers help other non-profits complete their missions; it helps startup businesses grow to the point where they are stable and can hire employees, and it helps the under-employed improve their marketable skills so they can get paid more or get a job if they are unemployed.
NPO Musketeers was founded to solve a few different ever-present problems that were discovered by one of the founding directors. After consulting with multiple nonprofit organizations and small businesses over the course of about 7 years, here are two issues that would come up often:
1. Nonprofit organizations who are eligible for a $10,000 monthly ad grant from Google were not taking advantage of it. Either they’ve never heard about it, they don’t have someone that can manage it for them, or they don’t understand how it can be leveraged to help their organizations.
2. Small and startup businesses don’t have the budget for quality marketing to help their business grow, leaving them stuck at the bottom with less chance of moving upward. The business owner can try marketing on their own, but these businesses often have multiple other operations that depend on the owner. So the marketing gets neglected either because the business owner is overwhelmed or they just don’t know how to do it, and they’re not at a point where they can pay someone else to do it.
We recognize the amazing work that nonprofit organizations do as they relentlessly work to complete their missions to make our communities better. We are also firm believers in the American dream and recognize the tremendous opportunity that small business owners have to create self-sufficiency for themselves, provide for their families and even take it up a level by offering jobs to employees.
That left us to explore ways to provide marketing services to fill these needs at a lower cost to make it possible for both nonprofits and startups. There are four ways we can do that:
1. Have students provide the services while they are being trained. This gives an additional group of individuals an opportunity to increase their skills to become more employable. This adds to our goal of promoting self-sufficiency in a very synergistic way since the student could potentially be hired by the nonprofit or startup that they served after they have received hands-on training.
2. Startups that receive seed marketing services begin to pay back the funds they received once they have reached a level of revenue that supports it, and when they can hire employees. These are landmarks of a stable business ensuring that both the business owner and their employees are self-sufficient. Also, by paying the funds back it makes the funds for supporting startups perpetual.
3. We create additional streams of income to supplement donations. All proceeds for these projects are used towards our overall mission and are kept completely within the organization. Some of these projects are used for training purposes. For example, our T-shirt store can help upcoming graphic artists improve their skills while at the same time we can sell funny and fashionable shirts for extra funds. We can also recommend services and products to businesses and nonprofits to receive referral bonuses. By doing this we help them build their organizations with hand-picked resources at no extra cost, but it generates funds for us. For example, a business who uses our partner for merchant services may even get a better credit card processing rate than what they got previously, while the processor donates a portion of every transaction to us at no additional cost for the business.
4. We have special agreements with our service partners to ensure that quality marketing and other business services are provided at a discounted rate.
Despite our best efforts, there are costs to everything. Like most good nonprofit organizations we pledge to keep administrative costs at 10% or less, and we need your tax-deductible donation to complete our mission. NPO Musketeers was granted 501(c)(3) status by the IRS in March 2020.
When you support NPO Musketeers, you support all other nonprofit organizations, startups, and the under-employed — One For All!
